Mangalore, July 7: Lokayukta Dakshina Kannada unit today raided the house of City’s top cop Venkatesh Prasanna and allegedly found him in possession of a seized car with its number plates changed.
Mr. Prasanna who is known for his upright character and his prowess for hunting down the bad guys. He is known as the `Encounter cop’ of Mangalore. The Lokayukta raid came in the afternoon when Mr. Prasanna was on duty in his office. The Lokayukta Sleuths who were looking for a seized car in the Pandeshwar Police station gathered information that the car was parked in Mr. Prasanna’s apartment barely half a kilometers away from the police station.
When sleuths arrived at the apartment block they found the Tata Indigo parked there, but with a different licence plate. The plate related to a number from Bangalore Central RTO. On further investigation the sleuths found out that the engine number and chassis number of the vehicle matched with that of the seized car.
The lokayukta team headed by the Superintendent of Police Lokayukta Chandrashekar than took the possession of the car. Giving no other details of the raid and the seizure of the vehicle Mr. Chandrashekar just said that Mr. Prasanna had no business to keep a seized car in his possession and that too with a changed licence plate.
He told the presspersons that his investigations revealed that Mr. Prasanna was using the car for his private purposes which was yet another offence.
However, the Superintendent of Police Sathish Kumar told the visiting mediapersons that he was expecting a report from the Lokayukta and unless that comes he would not be in a position to divulge any information on the matter.
